Out and About with Amanda and Derik

Amanda and Derik brought two suitcases full of gently used clothes for our Tatui Deserete (dez-er-et-chee). Thank you to their ward in Sugar City for their generosity. Several of the items were gratefully taken within a few days. Elder Barrus and I started the Deserete last summer and it has been a great blessing. The members have begun bringing things that they no longer have a need for but are still in good condition. The Churro Man parks across the street from our apartment 3 or 4 times a week. He makes churros right from his van. They are 4 reis a piece which is about $1.25. Photo 4: Rodrigo is a member of the Tatui Branch. He and his wife Kelly are expecting a baby. Rodrigo has asked American missionaries for years to get him a bat from the US to mount on his wall. We asked Derik to bring down a bat and Rodrigo was thrilled to death. Bottom photo: We found a wonderful place in Tatui for pizza. The pizza here is not like the pizza in the States. You can't eat it by picking it up with your hands, there is too much stuff and cheese on it. Brazilian pizza is absolutely delicious. While most of the restaurants open about 11 am and close by 3 pm, the pizza restaurants don't open until 7 pm and go to about 10 pm or midnight.
